Ayase
Ayase
Station lies on the Chiyoda subway
line in Adachi Ward in the northern
part of Tokyo. An additional branch
line of Chiyoda goes from Ayase
to Kita-ayase offering transfers
between the two stations. Ayase
is also served by Joban Line of
the East Japan Railway Company (JR
East), which has transfers at the
station.
Places of Interest:
Higashi Ayase Park is a metropolitan
park that lies between Ayase and
Higashi Ayase. It is located just
1 minute walk from Ayase Station,
and is shaped like a reversed U
from the front of the station. A
stream runs along the west side
of the park. A variety of plants
adorn the Japanese garden that lies
within the park. Various sports
facilities like baseball and gateball
grounds, tennis courts, and an indoor
heated swimming pool are located
in the north side. Higashi Ayase
is one of the more popular parks
of Tokyo and is frequented by both
tourists and local residents.
Within Higashi Ayase Park is Tokyo
Budokan, a sports facility run by
Tokyo Lifelong Learning and Culture
Foundation. This facility offers
martial art and Japanese archery
classes as well as physical fitness
programs. Tokyo Budokan is well
known for its unique building. Designed
by the famous architect Kijo Rokkaku,
the building is an amalgamation
of old warrior Japanese arts and
modern architecture.
