Fussa
Fussa
Station is
a train station located in Fussa
City in the west of Tokyo. It is
served by the JR Ome Line and a
special express train.
The
area surrounding the station is
a busy commercial area with several
department stores, restaurants,
and fast joints. The most prominent
store here is the large six-storied
Seiyu Department Store ,
with which Fussa Station is connected
by a sky bridge.
On
August 7-10 each year, the very
popular Fussa Tanabata Festival
is held on the west side
of the station. During this festival,
the area comes alive with bamboo
decorations and booths selling foods
and drinks, toys, and a wide selection
of curios and handicrafts. A variety
of entertainment events are also
held – including parades with floats
and dancers, stage shows for children,
live music and comic performances,
beauty contests, and firework displays.
Every year, the festival attracts
over 400,000 people.
