Iwamotocho
Iwamotocho
Station is
located in the Iwamotocho
district of Chiyoda Ward of Tokyo,
and is served by the Toei Shinjuku
Line.
Iwamotocho
is situated in the northeastern
part of Chiyoda ward. Although some
parts of Iwamotocho have undergone
modernization, other parts still
retain the Edo touch. The older
part of Iwamotocho is known for
its fabric and apparel stores. It
was during the Edo period (1600-1867)
that the area had developed into
a fabric specialty area. Today there
are over a hundred shops that sell
fabric and apparel mainly to retailers.
Twice every year, in June and December,
a family bazaar is held in the area
featuring discounts of up to 70%.
The
south of Iwamotocho is known for its
hardware wholesale stores.
