Kokkai-Gijidomae

Kokkai-gijido-mae Station is located in the Chiyoda Ward of Tokyo adjacent to the National Diet Building , and is served by the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi and Chiyoda Lines. The station is also connected to Tameike-Sanno Station, which is served by the Tokyo Metro Ginza and Namboku Lines, by underground passageways. Since it is possible to transfer between the two stations without crossing through the ticket gates, transfers between the four Tokyo Metro Lines is easy.

The Chiyoda Line platforms of Kokkai-gijido-mae Station are the deepest in the Tokyo Metro subway network – they are 37.9 meters underground. According to some reports, this was proposed to be so as the government intended it to be used as a shelter for its workers in the event of a nuclear attack. Besides the National Diet building, the ministries and other government offices are also nearby. The area around Kokkai-gijido-mae Station is also home to several banks and restaurants.
