Naka-Okachimachi
Naka-Okachimachi
Station is
located on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya
Line in the Okachimachi district
of Ueno, Taito Ward. It is situated
just one station south of the larger
and busier Ueno Station, and is
connected to Ueno
Hirokoji Station through
underground passageways.
Okachimachi
is a middle class residential area,
mainly known for the very popular
shopping complex, Takeya, located
in front of Naka-Okachimachi Station.
Takeya
is a sprawling complex of discount
stores consisting of eight brightly
colored buildings. Virtually everything
is sold here at very low prices
– from sports supplies and clothes
to electronics and furniture. High-end
designer items, like Louis Vuitton
and Prada, can be bought here at
up to 40% off the regular retail
price elsewhere. Credit cards are
not accepted at Takeya. All goods
(which come with manufacturers'
warranties) have to be paid for
in cash.
