Nishidai

Nishidai Station is a metro station located in Itabashi ward in northwest Tokyo . It is served by the Toei Mita Line.

The Arakawa River flows through Itabashi ward in the area near Nishidai Station. The Itabashi Fireworks Festival is held every summer on the banks of the river about 20 minutes walk from Nishidai Station.

Itabashi Fireworks Festival

The Itabashi Fireworks Festival is held every 1 st Saturday of August on the banks of Arakawa River. This festival is particularly attractive because it is held simultaneously with the fireworks festival of Toda City on the opposite side of the river. The two festivals together set off approximately 11,000 fireworks, including about 100 of shakudama size (a shell approximately a foot in diameter). The featured performance of the show is the Niagara Falls (a 600-meter-long set fireworks) besides several bottle rockets and kaleidoscope shootings. The fireworks display at the Itabashi festival is so overwhelming that it is considered among the best in the country.
