Ochiai-Minami-Nagasaki
Ochiai-minami-nagasaki
Station is
a railway station located in Nakano
Ward in northwestern Tokyo. It is
served by the Toei Oedo Line.
Ochiai-minami-nagasaki
is
a quiet residential neighborhood
of Tokyo, with a few manufacturing
firms located in the area surrounding
the station. Among them is the well
known Sekisui Kinzoku Co.
Ltd , or the Kato
Precision Railroad Models. The
company manufactures model railroad
equipment based on Japanese prototypes
in both N and HO scales. Its most
famous model is an integrated roadbed
railroad track, named Unitrack,
which is also used by other railroad
model manufacturers.
Also
located in the neighborhood is Nakaochiai
Gallery. Situated in what
was once a garage and then a sweetshop,
this small gallery exhibits works
of both Japanese and international
artists of all generations. What is
unique about Nakaochiai Gallery is
its commitment to engage the community
in its artwork, and it is not uncommon
to see visitors chatting with the
director, curator, or artists of the
gallery. The Gallery was opened by Julia
Barnes, Clint Taniguchi and Yumi Wakiyama
in 2004 with the aim to foster community
involvement in art and artists. It
is open every Saturday and Sunday
from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and by appointment
on weekdays.
