Roppongi-itchome
Station is a subway station
on the Tokyo Metro Namboku Line.
It is located in the Roppongi district
of Minato Ward, home to the rich
Roppongi Hills, a large expatriate
community, and an active nightclub
scene.

Station is directly connected to
the basement of Izumi Garden
Tower . This 216 meter
high-rise building was completed
in the year 2002 and was the tallest
structure in Roppongi until Mori
Tower surpassed it a year later.
Izumi Garden Tower features a high-end
hotel, luxury apartments, offices,
a fitness center, shops and restaurants.
A

Hakuko Kan Museum
Located
3 minutes walk from Roppongi-itchome
Station is Sen-Oku Hakuko
Kan Museum . Established
in 2002, this museum exhibits and
preserves art objects collected
by the Sumitomo family. Hence it
is also called the Sumitomo Collection.
The Collection features over 3000
art objects, including Chinese and
Japanese calligraphic works and
paintings, western-style paintings,
modern ceramics, and Japanese tea
utensils. But what the museum is
mainly famous for are its ancient
Chinese bronzes and mirrors, said
to be the best collection outside
of China.
Okura
Shukokan Museum of Fine Arts
Okura
Shukokan Museum of Fine Arts
is located in a beautiful old Japanese
style building directly across from
Okura Hotel, just 5 minutes walk
from Roppongi-itchome Station. The
collection in the museum was started
by Kihachiro Okura, a collector
of Buddhist art work, who in 1917
established this museum to display
his treasures. His son, Baron Kishichiro
Okura (founder of Okura Hotel) continued
with his father’s
tradition and added more items to
the collection over the years. Today
the museum houses some 2,000 items
and 35,000 volumes, some of which
are registered National Treasures,
Important Cultural Objects, and
Important Art Objects.
