Station
lies on the Tokyo Metro Namboku
Line in the Bunkyo Ward of Tokyo.
The
station is situated close to two
of Tokyo's major universities –
Tokyo University and Bunkyo Gakuin
University. Bunkyo Gakuin University
is located directly in front of
Todaimae Station Exit 2.

Bunkyo
Gakuin University is part of Bunkyo
Gakuen, an educational institution
founded in 1924 by Ishiko Shimada.
Bunkyo Gakuen is comprised of several
institutes – graduate school, university,
junior college, high school, junior
school, and kindergarten. All these
educational centers were established
as, and were women-only institutes
till April 2005 when they were all
made co-educational.
Bunkyo
Gakuin University offers undergraduate
courses in four faculties - Business
Administration, Foreign Studies,
Human Studies, and Health Science
Technology. Its graduate schools
include Schools of Foreign Studies,
Business Administration and Human
Studies. Bunkyo Gakuin University
has two campuses, one in Fujimino,
Saitama; and the other in Hongo,
Bunkyo.
Hongo
Campus:
The
Hongo Campus of Bunkyo Gakuin, which
is located directly in front of
Todaimae Station, houses the English
Communication Department of the
Faculty of Foreign Studies, the
Business Administration Department
of the Faculty of Business Administration,
the Clinical
Laboratory Medicine Department (second
to fourth year students) of the
Faculty of Health
Science Technology, the English
Studies Department of the Bunkyo
Gakuin College ,
the Graduate School of Business
Administration and the Graduate
School of Foreign Studies.
The
centerpiece of the Hongo Campus
is the Ishiko Shimada Memorial Hall,
an 834 seat multi-purpose hall.
Other facilities at the campus include
a
library
with more than 140,000 volumes,
a multi-media center that provides
computers with an interface in six
languages, the Center for Intellectual
Property and Multilingual Digital
Media Content, and a computer training
room.
