Nishigahara

Nishigahara Station is a subway station located in the Nishigahara district of Kita Ward of Tokyo . It is served by the Tokyo Metro Namboku Line.

Nishigahara is a residential area of Kita-ku. The area is mainly known for the Nishigahara Ichirizuka , just a short walk from the station. Ichirizuka are mounds that were once built as milestones on either side of the road, with each pair being placed at a distance of approximately 4 kilometers from each other. There were once eighteen pairs of ichirizuka in Tokyo, of which the one in Nishigahara is the only remaining one. It has now been designated a National Historical Site.

Takinogawa Park

Takinogawa Park is a beautiful park with abundant greenery located just 3 minutes from Nishigahara Station. The park was once the site of the former Institute of Agricultural Technique of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. Today it is a place of relaxation for the residents of the area. Takinogawa Park is mainly known for its large variety of beautiful flowers and fruit trees. In the middle of the park there is a pond with a large waterfall. A river also flows through the park which further enhances the beauty of the place. Waterfowls can also be seen in and around the pond and river. Takinogawa Park is also a favorite for blossom viewing in early spring when people gather here in large numbers to view the flowering blooms. The place also functions as a disaster-prevention park and so includes all the disaster-prevention facilities.
